Had a short trip in mid-July to the waves of North Cornwall, where we were on the hunt for some Silver Grey stories.

Before going down, we had contacted George Stoy, a surfing instructor based in Polzeath - www.georgessurfschool.com - who is very keen on teaching, alongside his younger clients, the growing number of over-50's taking up the sport. George and his partner Beth Druce, a radio journalist researching an article on local surfers still taking to the waves post 50, have come up with some interesting leads that we hope to follow up later in the year.

In Bude we were put in touch with well-established surf shop ZumaJay - www.zumajay.co.uk - who were very helpful and who came up with some more leads (thanks, Paul). Interestingly, all the contacts, for one reason or another, thought they were not "special" enough to be filmed for our site. These people do not consider the fact that they surf to be exceptional - we would disagree. But in a way this is great, because although we got no filming done, their reaction exemplifies exactly what the SGSC stands for, i.e. keep your body strong and carry on doing your extreme/adventure sport - it's just "what you do". This is our point of view, and we think it should be the norm.
