The ski resort of Val d'Isère has a system of rewarding long-time regular clients with "Médailles de Fidélité" (Loyalty Medals). Every year they have a "Fête des Médaillés" consisting of giant slalom races and a prize-giving ceremony later in the day.

These medals are awarded to clients who have holidayed in Val d'Isère every year for a number of years starting from when they reach the age of 20: Bronze Medal for 20 years, Silver Medal for 30 years, Gold Medal for 40 years and, believe it or not, Large Gold Medal (Grand Or) for 50 years! Every year the Val d'Isère Tourist Office hosts the Fête des Médaillés - the festival of the medallists - which consists of the "medallists" spending the day competing in Giant Slalom races, divided into age and gender categories, and then being awarded prizes to the winners at an afternoon ceremony in the Town Square.

Our short film of this day has been accepted as an entry into the Guardian Witness Short Film Awards.
